Golden Climb #10
In 2000, I moved studios to a 13th floor high rise in New York's Chelsea neighborhood. I can see down below the city lights and endless traffic moving incessantly like giant blood vessels of a dynamic metropolis. On rainy days, the reflections make you feel like you are inside a kaleidoscope.

Golden Climb #9
I prepared a long 72"×192" canvas to paint the bright city lights which endlessly diffused into nightscapes as seen from the 13th floor. It was then that the September 11 attacks happened. Two days later I went to the studio. Amidst the burning smell I watched candlelit vigils. Was I to hold a candle or a brush? I chose the brush and set to painting the lights of the souls that departed our world, souls fading far away. The fish symbolize soul-bearing bodies.'
