Ascending - Stairs

The distance from the kids’ bedroom or the kitchen to the basement studio was only a few yards, yet walking away from housekeeping to reach the studio was a daily struggle for resolution. Walking up and down those stairs was a constant conflict between expectations, endless cycles of departure and arrival. I want to see further and measure the height.

Ladders and stairs are my everlasting subjects because they are all about rising. They take me from one place to another higher place.

Sometimes I think There might be too many colors and stories in my paintings. Could I simplify, and only show the essence? But if simplification was the goal of all painting Would it not lead to math equations? Compromises is no fun. Choosing to live or not to live Is the fight I face everyday in front of the canvas. In fact, more than the result, This desperate quest and struggle is the most beautiful moment in my practice.
